The path that led the Robichaux’s to this ministry was set in motion many years ago. It is very clear that Chad and Kathy’s life experiences have prepared them to answer their true calling from God: to help these young warriors. Throughout Chad’s life, he has been placed in one leadership position after another – all experiences that have helped him become the type of leader who can truly change the lives of wounded veterans.
For many years, Chad served our country as a US Federal Agent and as a US Force Recon Marine. After eight deployments to Afghanistan, he returned as a wounded warrior. Chad was diagnosed with severe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
It was his strong relationship with God, family, friends and Jiu-Jitsu that helped lead him to his victory over PTSD. Jiu-Jitsu has been a passion of Chad’s since he was just five years old. Whenever he found himself facing uncertain times, he knew he could find certainty with this martial art. After defeating PTSD, Chad knew it was his calling to help others do the same. So, he put his ambition, leadership skills and lifelong passion of Jiu-jitsu to work: With these skills and a Masters of Business Administration from New York Tech, Chad realized that he was in the perfect position to help other soldiers find their way.
Chad and Kathy Robichaux have been married for 16 years and have been blessed with three awesome children: Hunter, Haili, and Hayden. The entire Robichaux family practices Jiu-Jitsu together.
In 2007, the Robichaux family opened Gracie Barra in North Houston. Four years later, with about 750 members, it is one of the largest Jiu-Jitsu academies in the nation. Chad is the head instructor and a 1st Degree Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
Chad has had a fruitful career as a Pro MMA Competitor, being blessed to be able to compete in the highest levels of the sport and ending with an impressive record of 11 wins and only 2 losses. When competing on World Wide Television such as Showtime, MTV 2, and HD Net, along with numerous global media outlet attention, Chad used this platform as a sports figure to educate the public about Wounded Warriors and Soldiers’ Angels (a non-profit organization that provides aid to veterans and their families).
While this has all been a blessing and a great adventure for the Robichaux family, God has instilled a deeper passion within them all: leading young Wounded Warriors from the ashes of despair to their own personal life victories.
The Robichaux family feels blessed and honored to have been called on by God to stand on the front line, side-by-side with these young men. We have faith that these men will stand up and be Mighty Oaks.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about Mighty Oaks. We hope you’ll join us in our mission to mend the hearts and minds of young wounded veterans.
God has an amazing plan for this foundation.
